Jewelry Testing

Eurolab provides a wide range of testing services for fashion and costume jewelry, covering everything from necklaces and rings to bracelets and earrings. These tests ensure that your products meet safety and quality standards, helping you offer reliable and safe items to your customers.

Metal contamination poses significant health and safety risks for consumers of fashion jewelry. Due to this, both adult and children’s fashion jewelry sold in the European Union must comply with the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) chemical regulations regarding nickel release, lead, cadmium, and phthalates.

In the United States, under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), children’s fashion jewelry is classified as a Children’s Product and must meet lead content requirements. Third-party testing is mandatory under CPSIA, and products must include a Tracking Label and be backed by a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC).

Key aspects of our Chemical Cargo Inspection services include:

Additionally, the voluntary ASTM F2923 standard sets limits for heavy metals like lead and cadmium in children’s jewelry and imposes requirements for magnets and other physical testing. Heavy metal limits for adult jewelry are outlined in ASTM F2999. Various U.S. state laws also regulate chemicals in jewelry, including California’s Proposition 65.

Eurolab conducts comprehensive testing for fashion jewelry to ensure compliance with mandatory regulations and to evaluate quality and performance. We offer testing for torque, tension, compression, flammability, and corrosion resistance, helping to ensure your jewelry can withstand repeated and prolonged use, boosting consumer satisfaction.

Eurolab has partnered with AnchorCert, offering allergy testing for both fine and affordable jewelry manufacturers and retailers worldwide. This partnership ensures the highest quality of testing while identifying materials that may cause adverse skin reactions.
