GB Testing on Footwear for China

Eurolab offers GB testing services for footwear intended for sale in China, ensuring that these products meet safety, labeling, and quality standards.

Safety

Footwear safety is governed by several mandatory standards:

  • Leather or fur components in shoes must adhere to GB 20400, which sets limits on harmful substances.
  • Shoes made from PVC leather are required to comply with GB 21550, concerning restrictions on hazardous materials in polyvinyl chloride.
  • Vulcanized shoes must meet the standards outlined in GB 25038-2010.
  • Children's footwear is subject to the GB 30585-2014 Safety Technical Specifications.

Labeling

The labeling requirements for footwear are detailed in:

  • QB/T 2673-2023, which specifies marking requirements and became effective on July 1, 2014, replacing QB/T 2673-2004.
  • Additional marking criteria for vulcanized shoes are outlined in HG/T 2403-2018.

Quality

The quality and performance requirements for footwear are defined in various mandatory or product-specific standards. With over 50 product standards available, it's essential to select the appropriate one based on factors such as material, gender, intended use, target consumer age, and style to ensure compliance.

During the market surveillance conducted by the Chinese government, common areas of non-compliance include labels, shoe size, appearance, whole shoe flex resistance, peeling strength, outsole abrasion resistance, midsole-outsole adhesive strength, and outsole thickness.

Eurolab operates accredited footwear laboratories in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Italy, equipped to perform GB footwear testing. Our regional technical experts are available to help ensure your products meet China's requirements. Beyond GB testing, we offer additional services such as creating label templates, translating labels into Chinese to align with GB standards, assisting with enterprise standard applications, and providing on-site technical support including product and label reviews and training.
