Eyewear Testing

Eyewear Testing

In addition to design, consumers place great importance on quality and functionality when choosing eyewear. These factors play a crucial role in their purchasing decisions.

Though the intended use of eyewear may differ—whether for improving vision, protecting against prolonged sun exposure, or shielding from environmental factors—the common goal remains to safeguard the eyes.

Eurolab’s global expertise, combined with cutting-edge laboratories and innovative testing methods, can help ensure your eyewear meets international standards. Eurolab provides testing for the following types of eyewear:

  • Ski Goggles: Eurolab assesses ski goggles in line with the EN 174:2001 standard, which covers personal eye protection for downhill skiing, classified as Class 1 Personal Protective Equipment under the PPE Directive 89/686/EEC.
  • Sunglasses: Eurolab tests non-prescription sunglasses and fashion eyewear for transmittance properties, optical powers, scattered light, material and surface quality, robustness, resistance to radiation, and more.
  • Reading Glasses and Spectacle Frames: Eurolab can test ready-to-wear spectacles according to the EN 14139:2010 standard (ophthalmic optics – specifications for ready-to-wear spectacles) and spectacle frames to EN ISO 12870:2009 (ophthalmic optics – spectacle frames).
  • PPE Eyewear Testing: Eurolab offers safety goggle and face shield testing to ensure manufacturers, distributors, and retailers comply with various industry standards and requirements.
